Kris and Black Jack
Black Jack is an off the track thoroughbred who was purchased by Kris. Much like Aries and Tanner, Jack’s racing career was distinguished mainly by his earning power – in four races he won a total of $0. When you combine the race careers of Aries, Jack and Tanner you get a grand total of $370 won from 11 races!
Jack is currently enjoying life at Merry Acres farm in Maryland where he and Kris are working on his shoulder-in and being introduced to travers. He is also schooling over cross-country jumps and likes nothing better than a trail ride with Crockett, the farm dog.
Since leaving the track, Jack has enjoyed competing at local dressage and cross-country events – and if you haven’t noticed from all the photos, he looks very good in purple!
In her early days, Kris worked at the track as a groom and she has a wonderful way with horses that is reflected in the soft, trusting look in Jack’s eye as she works around him.

The Disconnected Horse

Do you have a horse that hangs on the bit and feels like he is pulling you around the ring?
Does he get strong when you canter? And do your shoulders or arms end up aching during and after a ride? You may even have considered getting a harsher bit to get the horse out of your hands.
