Merry Acres Pink Show
A Great Success
The Merry Acres Pink Show in early September with over 60 riders and competing at dressage, stadium jumping and cross country was a resounding success. The Pink Show is in support of the Marathon of Miracles organization. Marathon of Miracles is a 501C3 organization with a mission to inspire, educate and empower breast cancer survivors. Visit www.survivorcelebration.com for information about their work.
Despite the gray weather with occasional showers, the riders tested their mettle in the three disciplines. Highlights this year included:
Top: Jen Funk completing her first Novice A Dressage Test (complete with right lead canter!)
Bottom left: Charlie Martinez and his horse Stoney had a good stadium and cross country ride.
Kris and Black Jack getting second in cross country and having their best dressage test to date.
A special thanks to everyone who at least tried to help out by eating some of the 300 doughnuts that's were donated to the event - I am sure Chris and Howie appreciated the effort!

The Disconnected Horse
by Tim Lewthwaite
Do you have a horse that hangs on the bit and feels like he is pulling you around the ring?
Does he get strong when you canter? And do your shoulders or arms end up aching during and after a ride? You may even have considered getting a harsher bit to get the horse out of your hands.
